Guide to AI at AAPM Annual 2026

A field guide to artificial intelligence at the AAPM | COMP Annual Meeting & Exhibition — one agenda of sessions and committee meetings worth your time, which exhibit-hall products are worth a real look, and where AI policy for the field actually gets written.

A decade of AI at AAPM

AI-named sessions per year, 2017–2026

AAPM Annual Meeting programs
Counts are named-session mentions, not a research census. Grid-format years (2017, 2021, 2022, 2024–26) and full-program years (2018–2020, moderated-session titles only, reading a touch lower) use the same counting rule but aren't perfectly on the same scale — squares marked P above are program years. 2023's supplement format couldn't be parsed cleanly and is left blank. Section 01

Sessions & committees to attend

One agenda — the AI-focused scientific sessions and the AAPM committee rooms where policy for the field gets written, in the order they actually happen. Filter by priority or by type, then add anything straight to your calendar.

Show
Type
Task group and committee meetings are generally open to interested AAPM members who want to sit in — but policy can vary by group. If you're not already connected to one, the fastest way in is usually the committee chair or AAPM's volunteer / get-involved page. Worth a short email ahead of the meeting rather than showing up cold. The Corporate Advisory Board meets Monday but is invite-only, so it isn't listed here.
Section 02

Which booths to visit

Ranked by genuine novelty first, recency second — a product that does something no prior commercial system did outranks a routine model update, even a very recent one. Built from vendor filings, FDA clearances, and trade press, not booth-copy marketing claims.

MIM Contour ProtégéAI+ 2.0

The AI is familiar zero-click auto-contouring — the notable part is that FDA clearance now includes a Predetermined Change Control Plan, letting future model updates ship without a fresh 510(k) each time. Cleared roughly six weeks before AAPM.
